Contractual Latin

Many terms associated with contracts and contract formation are of latin origin:

"Negotiation" is derived from the Latin words meaning no rest (non and otium ).

"Contract" is derived from the Latin words meaning to drag or draw together (cum and trahere).  The word "tractor" has the same derivation and also carries the sense of dragging.

"Execution" is derived from the Latin words meaning out of and follow (ex and sequere).

"Delivery" is derived from the Latin words meaning from away from and set free (de and liberare).  The sense of setting free can also be discerned in the act of parturition.

Although "agreement" enters English from the French, its ultimate source are the Latin words meaning pleasing or acceptable towards (gratus and ad).
